KAVRE, AUG 29 -
Seventeen people were injured, four seriously, in an acid attack at Nayagaun-7 here on Wednesday.
Police said Suresh Bajagain, 18, threw acid at the people after a heated dispute over the expansion of a rural road in the village. Bajagain sprinkled the acid from a bottle at the villagers gathered at a local dairy that his father owns.
During police interrogation, Bajagain said, “I threw the acid in a fit of rage after Homnath Bajagain and his supporters started beating up my father, Bhimnath,” according to a police official. The dispute arose between the families of Suresh and Homnath over how the road should be reopened after a landslide blocked it on the former’s land.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Surendra Mainali said four seriously injured have been taken to TU Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu.
