UML dissidents miss deadline to clarify move

KATHMANDU, JUL 14 - The disgruntled Janajati and Madhesi leaders of the CPN-UML have not submitted their clarification to the party even after a week’s deadline expired on Thursday. Party sources said that none of the leaders has submitted a clarification letter to the party.
Some Janajati and Madhesi leaders to have received memos said they were contemplating on how to respond to the questions raised by the party while others are yet to receive the letter.
“I have not received a letter yet and responding to the party is out of the question,” said Politburo member Prithivi Subba Gurung.
Party leaders said that letters have been submitted to Vice-chairman Ashok Rai, Politburo member Rajendra Shrestha, while others were informed about the party decision via telephone. “I was also informed about their decision to seek clarification but I have never received any letter from the party asking me to clarify,” said Ajambar Kangmang.
On July 5, UML’s central disciplinary commission sought clarification from dissident leaders including Vice-chairman Rai for going against the party line and statute.
