Brick producers to launch protest

POST REPORT
KATHMANDU, JAN 18 - Kathmandu Valley Brick Kilns Coordination Committee has decided to stage protest against the government by suspending sales of bricks in Kathmandu valley on Monday.
Issuing a statement here today, the committee stated that it has taken the decision after the government turned a deaf ear towards their 14-point demand.
The release further warns that if the government does not pay serious attention to their demands immediately, then they will be forced to carry out further protests against the government.
The statement has also flayed the recent step of demolishing some nine kilns located in Bhaktapur and claimed that destruction of the kilns has caused around 5,000 labourers jobless.Posted on: 2004-01-19 03:49
