KATHMANDU, JAN 18 - The Everest Hotel at New Baneshwor is going to organise two "Grand Qawwali Nites" on the evening of January 22 and 23 by the Poolside and at The Cafe.
Some 11 renowned Qawwali singers will be coming from Lucknow in India for the events. Naseem Akhtar Bano of the Putali Bai fame and Aziz Naza of the Jhoom Barabar Jhoom nostalgia will be the major stars for the evenings.
The evenings, being publicised as Do Shama: Ek Parwana, will feature authentic Mughal delicacies, and the music will aim to touch the listeners and help them achieve a state of grace or enlightenment.
In its press communiqué, The Everest Hotel has promised that the music will be "stirring" and the evening will be "memorable" for Qawwali crazies.Posted on: 2004-01-19 04:00
