Making a difference

POST REPORT

NOV 20 - Nepal is a paradoxical country. We love to abuse our leaders, and blame everyone for our ills. Yet, we love to laze around and celebrate a banda like a holiday. We love to celebrate the power of youth, yet, we dismiss the youth as inexperienced and elect old-timers again and again.

But there is an optimism within the youth that has seldom been seen before, and there are signs that they can indeed make a difference. And we are not the only ones saying this. An international youth fellowship, the Paragon Fellowship, has selected eight Nepali young entrepreneurs under the age of 30 as change-makers in Asia, and their activities have been honoured for bringing about social change in a region that has the highest number of poor people in the world. Here are a few of their stories.
