Concerns over ineffective vaccination

KANTIPUR REPORT
NAWALPARASI, SEP 23 - Saying that the vaccination service provided in the district over the past few years has declined, the stakeholders of Nawalparasi have expressed their dissatisfaction over the same.

Speaking at a programme in the district headquarters, the stakeholders said that the 'vaccination coverage' had declined recently and further warned that the children could contract diseases.

District Health Office Chief Ramashankar Deep said that the local body and the stakeholders should work actively to increase the 'vaccination coverage'.

He opined that awareness programmes regarding vaccination should be conducted in the district.

Underscoring the role of vaccination in reducing the Infant Mortality Rate, the programme stressed on improving the effectiveness of vaccination.

A report that was presented at the programme said that the 'vaccination coverage' dropped from cent percent to 90% this year and that the children had also not received full doses of vaccines.
