LALITPUR, SEP 23 - Unidentified men robbed cash and valuables worth at least Rs. One million in three different incidents inside the Valley on Monday.
A group of armed robbers made off with at least four laptops worth Rs. 262,000 from a rented accomodation of Chinese nationals at Sanepa on Monday. The police said the looters, who were wielding a pistol and a knife, broke into the Chinese nationals' apartment and took the housemaid—30-year-old Sarita Majhi of Sindhuli —under control at gunpoint.
Also, cash and valuables worth Rs. 484,000 was stolen from the shop of Bishnukumar Shrestha at Pepsicola on Monday night. Similarly, another group of thieves broke into a consultancy office run by Shyam Kumar Shrestha at Bakhundol, Lalitpur, and stole six laptops, one desktop and other valuables worth Rs. 420,000 on Monday night. The police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits involved in the separate incidents.
Meanwhile, the police arrested a youth on Tuesday afternoon on charges of murdering his friend. The arrested, according to the police, has been identified as 17-year-old Santosh Badhaiya of Ramechhap, who had been currently residing in the Capital. The accused reportedly had mercilessly beaten up Sujan Kunwar, his 16-year-old friend. A critically-injured Kunwar was rushed to Patan Hospital, but was declared dead in the evening.
