KATHMANDU, SEP 22 - Seven people have been killed in different accidents on Tuesday.
Two children died and other 11 injured when a jeep (Ga 1 Ja 3795) heading to Pokhara from Lahan Chowk skidded some 100 meters down the road into the Mardi River at Hemja-9.
The police said Arjun Gurung, 11, of Lwanghalel VDC and Bishal Gurung, 13, died on the way to the hospital.
Among the injured, two are undergoing treatment at the Manipal Teaching Hospital and nine at the Western Regional hospital.
Likewise, three people died and other seven injured when a bus (Lu 2 Kha 5915) heading to Nepalgunj from the capital met with an accident at Devdaha, Rupandehi district along the East West highway at around five this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Som Maya Lama, 34, of Lamjung, Sushma Lama, 8, and bus conductor Sushil Shahi, area police office Butwal informed.
The injured are undergoing treatment at the Lumbini Zonal Hospital.
The police have presumed that the bus driver fell asleep while driving. He has fled the scene.
In Bara district, a passenger bus (Na 3 Kha 2611) heading for Biratnagar from the capital hit and killed Bhawana Choulagain, 50, at Nijgadh at around 4.45 this morning.
Similarly, in another incident, Dil Bahadur Rai, 67, died after some bricks fell on him while cleaning the roads at Tikeni, Ilam this morning. He died on the spot.
Meanwhile last night, a microbus hit a motorcycle (LU 6 Pa 1389) heading for Butwal from Bhairahawa, killing motorcycle rider Anil Thapa of Gulmi.
Also, one Lukni Yadav was killed after being hit by a jeep at Manikapur in Banke district last night. The jeep (Ga 1 Ja 1301) heading from Nepalgunj hit Yadav who was in a rickshaw, the police informed. Her husband has also been injured in the accident.
The locals and relatives of Yadav obstructed vehicular movement at Nepalgunj-Kohalpur road section since early this morning demanding compensation.
