CPN-Maoist cadres torch bus in Dhulikhel

KAVRE, SEP 15 - Cadres of CPN-Maoist have vandalised and torched a passenger bus in Kavre for defying the banda called by the party on Sunday. 

The bus (Ba 2 Kha 5672), en route to Melamchi from the Capital, was torched by the CPN-Maosit cadres at Dhulikhel this morning. However, no passenger was hurt in the inferno. Police personnel doused the fire.

Likewise, journalist Dev Raj KC was attacked for traveling on a motorcycle during the banda in Banepa. KC has sustained an injury near his eye during the attack. 

Locals had attempted to retaliate against the strike after journo KC was attacked. The cadres were chased away by police to prevent any clash from happening. Over half a dozens cadres were also arrested, said Banepa police chief Inspector Ashwin Kumar Giri. 

CPN-Maoist central member Chudamani Gautam, region number 4 in-charge Gita Rasailee, among others, were arrested by police.

The strike has affected normal life in the district. Few shops in the market area are opened while vehicles have remained off the road.
