KATHMANDU, MAY 05 -
A deadly combination of Avinash Karn's bowling and Amit Shrestha's explosive batting handed Nepal their second consecutive victory in the ACC U-19 Elite Cup in Malaysia on Saturday. Nepal convincingly defeated Qatar by nine wickets at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.
Qatar 's decision to bat after winning the toss proved fateful as they struggled against Nepal i bowling attack and were all out for mere 93 runs in 36.3 overs. Nepal i bowling attack was spearheaded by Karn who took four wickets with an economy of 3.46 runs per over. Karn was named man of the match for his superb performance. Nepal also flourished in the fielding department conceded only seven boundaries in the 50-over game.
Sushant Bhari took two wickets and Bhuwan Karki and Nischal Panday registered one each in their account. Uzair Amir top scored with 24 runs from 67 balls for the Qatar i side.
Nepal reached the low total in just 10.5 overs for the loss of single wicket. Opener Shrestha stitched a 56-run opening partnership with Nischal Panday. Shrestha hammered 11 boundaries and a six for his 33-ball 70. Panday was caught in the eighth over while he was on 12. Another Nepal i batsman Harishankar Shah was not out on eight runs.
