Defending Champions Armed Police Force (APF) staged an amazing comeback from two sets down against Nepal Police Club to retain the title of the National Men’s Volleyball Tournament held at Tehrathum on Thursday.
A tight contest between the two finalists saw Police edge past APF 25-23, 25-23 in the first two sets. However, Police were overwhelmed by APF as they swept away the next three sets 25-20, 25-22 and 15-12.
The triumphant team were rewarded with Rs 50,000 cash prize while Police were content with Rs 30,000.
Nepal Army team, who finished third after defeating Central Region team, earned Rs 20,000.
APF captain Kailash Bhatta was honoured with the Most Valuable Player award along with Rs 5,000.
The other award recipients include Kul Bahadur Thapa of Police for Best Spiker, Mahendra Shrestha of APF for Best Blocker, Sandesh Chand of Police for Best Defense, Ramesh Chaudhari also of Police for Best Server and Khushi Chaudhari of APF for Best Setter. They each were honoured with Rs 3,000.
