Manaslu avalanche: Rescue crew resumes search for missing
KATHMANDU, SEP 24 -
Rescue crew from Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been searching for those missing in Mount Manaslu avalanche that took place on Sunday morning.
The rescue operations were aborted after 3pm yesterday owing to poor visibility and bad weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the avalanche has climbed to 11 on Monday morning.
Among the deceased, six dead bodies have been airlifted to the Capital.
The avalanche occurred at camp-3 of the mountain at 7,300 metres at around 4 am. The climbers were most possibly sleeping when they were hit with the snow.
18 climbers were rescued by a joint Simrik, Fishtail and Mountain Airlines rescue team yesterday.
The avalanche site in Samagaun VDC-4 in Gorkha district is a day-and-a-half walk from the nearest police station. Samagaun is around 180 km from Gorkha district headquarters.
