Ex-king Shah's Myagdi visit cancelled
MYAGDI, SEP 21 -
Former king Gyanendra Shah cancelled his scheduled visit to Myagdi on Friday after eight political parties enforced a banda in the district in protest of the trip.
Arjun Basnet, publicity coordinator of the committee formed to welcome the ex-king to Pokhara, said Shah's trip was cancelled owing to security concerns.
Shah's programme for Saturday, however, remains intact and will take place as planned, said Basnet.
Meanwhile, the parties in Myagdi withdrew the banda after Shah's visit was cancelled. He was scheduled to offer prayers at Bhartikalbam and Galeshwor temples in Myagdi before visiting Baglung and Parbat districts.
