Academic institutions shut down in Chitwan to welcome Dahal

CHITWAN, SEP 10 -
Entire academic institutions have been shut down in Chitwan on Monday to welcome UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal who is scheduled to attend district convention organised by the party affiliated All Nepal National Teachers Association ( ANNTA ) in the district this afternoon.
The academic institutions have said that they were compelled to shut down schools due to the pressure from the ANNTA .
Earlier, various students' associations had submitted a memorandum at the Education Ministry, not to shut schools, however, their demand went unheard.
According to UML affiliated teachers associations Chairman Bhanu Upadhayay, schools have been shut down by cutting-off summer vacation.
