KATHMANDU, SEP 09 -
Chefs have an important role to play, said Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudel on Saturday.
Inaugurating the 17th general assembly of the Chefs Association of Nepal, he said the country needs more skilled and trained cooks at home and also in foreign countries to keep the flag flying. Chefs are Nepal’s goodwill ambassadors in the international arena, he said. The top bureaucrat stressed the need of making a national and international food menu of Nepal working jointly by the association and the ministries of Agriculture and Tourism.
On the occasion, Association Chairman Ratna Bahadur Thapa said the chefs’ umbrella body has been doing its best to equip the chefs working in hotels, restaurants, catering companies and trekking institutions with international level training.
Meanwhile, the association organised a food exhibition in all the five development regions and honoured chefs who have worked for more than 25 years.
