APF, NPC win NVA titles
KATHMANDU, SEP 08 -
Armed Police Force ( APF ) and Nepal Police Club (NPC) became the champions of the First NVA Cup National Club Championship in men’s and women’s categories respectively on Friday.
APF defeated NPC 3-1 in the men’s final, while in a very competitive match in the women’s final played at the National Sports Council covered hall, NPC agonised APF with a 3-2 win.
APF dominated the beginning two sets with 25-15 and 25-20 but NPC bounced back in the third set with a narrow win of 25-23. Nevertheless, APF sealed the match in the final set with a 25-21 score line. Opposite was the case in the women’s competition as NPC have gone down in the beginning two sets but they overturned the result to be the champions after winning forthcoming three sets.
NPC trailed with a 21-25 and 22-25 in the beginning two sets but went on to win the trophy after registering a win of 25-18, 25-17 and 15-12 in the last three sets. The winners bagged a purse of Rs 100,000. Nepal Army Club finished third in the men’s category while New diamond attained the same feat in the women’s.
Likwewise, Kopila Uprety of NPC was awarded the best player in the women’s category, while Kailash Dutta took honours in the men’s category.
