Prez calls for using skills in nation building
KATHMANDU, SEP 08 -
President Ram Baran Yadav has presented the Nepal Bidya Bhushan medal and Nepal Chhatraa Bidya Padak (medal) of various classes to 236 students on the occasion of the National Education Day and the International Literacy Day on Saturday.
At a function organised Saturday morning at the Rastrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas , 129 students of higher education received the Nepal Vidya Bhushan ´A´, 54 topping in masters level received the Vidya Bhushan ´B´ to 15 securing highest marks in various faculties of bachelor level received Vidya Bhushan ´C´.
Likewise, the Nepal Chhatraa Vidya Padak (medal) was given away to 28 girl students topping in bachelor level and ten girl students of certificate level in various faculties.
Addressing the function, President Yadav pointed out the need for further efforts for reaching employment opportunities to the impoverished people by making higher, technical and commercial education timely.
The president also stressed on the need for bringing into mainstream the dalits, women, Madhesis and Janajatis.
Access to life supporting education should be increased to resolve the problem of going abroad for jobs; he said, and sought commitment from all concerned for making colleges purely academic places.
He also called on those attaining the degrees to use their skills in nation building. Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma said manpower also excelling in nation building is the need of the day.
He also said the government was active in generating manpower and developing infrastructure by forwarding the concept of Open University. RSS
