LA, Rato Bangala in U-14 boys’ doubles final

KATHMANDU, AUG 31 -
The pair of Bipin Thapa and Sandesh Paudel of Little Angels’ School (LA) and Abhaya Gauchan and Abhas Malla of Rato Bangala School (RBS) have made it into the finals of the U-14 boys’ doubles category in the Sixth LA/JTI Inter-school Junior Open Tennis Tournament. Bipin and Sandesh overcame the pair of Abhisekh Domjan and Ayushman Nanju, also of LA, 6-2, 6-1. Abhaya and Abhas defeated the pair of Chandraman Rokaya and Nabin Joshi 6-3, 7-5 to pave their way to the finals. In the U-14 girls’ double section, the pair of Tshering Sherpa and Ayusha Rai will face Sibangani Singh and her partner Diba Rana for the title. Tshering and Ayusha thwarted the challenge of Kala Tamang and Labita Gurung, winning 6-1, 6-1. Ganga Sharma of Mahendra Higher Secondary School and Manjita Nyacho of St.Xaviers School will vie for the U-18 girls’ singles title after both of them won their respective matches in straight sets. Ganga defeated Suchita Santya 6-1, 6-0, while Manjita won 6-0, 7-6 against Kripa Sharma. The title of the U-9 girls’ singles will be vied for by Abhilasha Bista of St. Xaviers and Nima Rokaya of LA. Abhilasha got the better of Agrima Mainali 10-0, 10-5 while Nima overcame Saisha Joshi of RBS 10-2, 10-3. In the U-14 girls’ section Bibhuti Karki of St. Xavier’s defeated Annie Mathema 6-4, 7-5 to reach the finals.
