Number of viral fever, typhoid patients increases in Palpa

The number of patients suffering from viral fever and typhoid is rising in the past week in the district.
According to doctors, around 40 percent of the patients visiting health institutions such as the United Mission Hospital (UMH), the Lumbini Medical College (LMC) and the District Hospital are suffering from the diseases.
A doctor at the UMH said the pressure of patients suffering from these diseases is high in the past one week.
The hospital said more than 120 out of 300 patients who visit the hospital on a daily basis were found to be suffering from the diseases.
Likewise, the LMC has also found that around half of the patients visiting the hospital were suffering from the diseases. Doctors in the hospital said among the patients, children exhibited viral fever while youths and the elderly were suffering from typhoid.
Madhuraj Poudel, chief of the Bhairabsthan health post in the district, said among 346 patients who visited the health post for the past one month, 70 were suffering from viral fever and 30 from typhoid.
He said they referred some patients to the district hospital or other hospitals in Tansen when cases became complicated. “It is high time to spread awareness to control the diseases,” he said, adding that almost all health posts in rural areas in the district were dealing with patients suffering from the diseases.
The District Public Health Office (DPHO) said it has launched various awareness campaigns to control the diseases.
Jhalak Sharma Poudel of the DPHO said his office has started advising patients to visit the nearest health posts if symptoms of the diseases were seen and asked health centres to launch awareness campaigns in rural areas.
Viral fever spreads in Syangja
SYANGJA: The number of patients suffering from viral fever is on the rise in the district, the District Public Health Office (DPHO) said. The DPHO estimated that around 70 percent of the patients visiting health centres in the district were suffering from viral fever of late. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has deployed two public health officers from the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division to control the epidemic. The Primary Health Post at Waling has also launched awareness campaign in schools and government offices to control the disease.
