KATHMANDU, AUG 18 - CPN-UML leader Pradip Gyawali said that formation of the Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA) is just an opportunistic step by the UCPN (Maoist) to extend their tenure in the government.

Gyawali accused the Maoist leaders of trying to impose anarchy in the nation.

Gyawali claimed that UML is for a peaceful discussion to pressurise Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai. However, he said that they would hit the roads if it Bhattarai does not agree to step down.

Addressing a program at Argakhanchhi, Gyawali said that Nepali Congress and UML do not intend to create any alliance. “We should opt for elections through a national government. It was PM Bhattarai’s stupidity to work against the constitution,” said Gyawali.

Furthermore, Gyawali claimed that UML is ready to tackle the situation if the FDRA tries to arouse riots in the country.
