Swimmer Shah fails to make nat’l record
KATHMANDU, AUG 02 -
Nepali swimmer Prasiddha Jung Shah failed to break the national record in the 50m freestyle swimming in London Olympics.
Shah timed 26.93 seconds in the competition on Thursday. However, he beat his earlier best of 27.04 seconds.
Coach Angden Lama said that improving a personal record was also a matter of delight. “Improving in personal record is also good for an athlete,” said Lama.
Shah who sustained injuries during a training camp in Kent finished in seventh position out of eight swimmers in the competition. Coach Lama said that Shah’s injury was also a cause for his low performance.
Chitra Bahadur Gurung holds the national record with a timing of 26.39 in the 50 meters freestyle swimming.
