KATHMANDU, JUL 15 -

Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun has announced one-third budget of Rs 161.02 billion for next four months of fiscal year 2012/13 on Sunday.

The government announced one-third budget for the next fiscal year through an ordinance amid a program at a seminar hall of the National Planning Commission (NPC) at Singha Durbar at 4:00 pm today.

Minister Pun said that the economic growth in the current fiscal year was the highest in three years. Minister Pun assured that the government would continue big projects in the country despite the announcement of one-third of budget .

“I urge to investors to invest without any fear,” he said.

Finance Minister Pun further said that there was no alternative to a complete budget . However, he said that the government sacrificed its stance and released only one-third of the budget for the sake of agreement with other parties.

Pun claimed that the government does not want to start a war over the issue of budget . “Do not take it as the government’s weakness, it was a sacrifice,” said Pun.

The government had prepared to bring a complete budget but the opposition parties, including Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, protested the decision saying that the caretaker government had no right to bring a complete budget . They had also submitted a memorandum to President Ram Baran Yadav asking him to reject the government's bid to bring a full budget through ordinance.
