BARA, JUL 01 - A group of alleged cadres of Matrika Yadav-led CPN-Maoist manhandle d and Chief of Bara District Land Reforms Office , Bara, on Sunday. They also smeared black colour on his face.
A group of 4-5 people barged into the office while he [Jha] was holding a meeting and smeared him black. They said that they were Maoist cadres and were asking for donation, according to Mewa Lal Patel, who was witness to the incident.
“I have no idea why I was humiliated in this manner. They just entered and started smudging on my face without explaining the reason for the assault. However, I caught one of them as they were trying to escape,” said Jha.
The arrestee, Santosh Mool, of Kalaiya district, claimed that he was a cadres of the CPN-Maoist led by Matrika Yadav and said that what they did to Jha was a part of their central programme as a protest. He claimed that Jha deserved it, as he is a corrupt officer.
According to police, Mool has been detained at the District Police Office for further interrogation. The others are on the run.
