Education fair from Thursday

KATHMANDU, JUN 27 -

A four-day educational fair, organised by the Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal ( ECAN ) and presented by Kantipur daily, is beginning Thursday.

The largest international educational fair in the country is to be held at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall is being  managed by One Up Communication.

The fair will provide career counselling and information about national and international educational institutions, targeted towards students aspiring to study abroad and their parents.

According to the organisers, education consultancies, diplomatic missions and agencies, national and foreign colleges and universities will be participating in the event.

“The event intends to act as an interaction forum for Nepali consultants, students, parents and international academic institutions,” said ECAN President Rajendra Baral. “It will provide students and their parents with information on available academic degrees in and out of the country, making it easier for them to choose from a wide range of study destinations.”

ECAN counsellors will advise visitors on courses available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, India, Ireland, Switzerland and China, among others. Students can also obtain information about preparatory classes, bridge courses and scholarship schemes offered by colleges and universities abroad.

The organiser, for the first time, has announced full scholarships for 10 students from marginalised communities in national and international colleges.

The fair will have 160 stalls, including 21 from abroad. The event will be held from 11am to 6pm daily and aims to attract 120,000 students.
