A week of melodious festivities
KATHMANDU, JUN 22 -
The weeklong International Music Festival, organised by Tuborg beer, part of the Carsberg group, in association with Alliance Française, is currently being held in Kathmandu, Dharan and Pokhara. The festival commenced on June 21 with a live performance by five bands at Khula Manch in Ratnapark to coincide with the World Music Day and will continue till June 28.
The Alliance Française in Kathmandu will host a musical programme on the 22nd where bands are invited to play. The winning band will get an opportunity to record their music in a professional studio. June 23 will see a classical concert performed by five musicians at Yala Maya Kendra, Patan Dhoka. Additionally, Tuborg is organising musical nights in pubs with popular bands in Kathmandu, Dharan and Pokhara on June 22 and 23.
“Tuborg’s association with Alliance Française is only natural and has a history of its own. For the past eight years, we have managed to support many young and emerging artists by providing a platform for them to share their passion for music,” said Paul Oliver Claudepierre, Marketing Director of Gorkha Brewery.
In Nepal, Tuborg has supported local musicians by providing them local and regional level platforms to showcase their talent since 1990. Beer is a natural part of any festival, and Tuborg is a natural part of festival fun.
“The International Music Festival will help many such young artists to perform and share their passion for music,” added Paul.
Tuborg’s future plans include supporting bigger and grander musical events while identifying and providing a platform to support young and emerging musicians in Nepal.
