CA can be revived: Dahal
KATHMANDU, JUN 05 - UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal said that the dissolved Constituent Assembly can be revived through the president to draft the new constitution if the political parties agree on the disputed issues of constitution drafting.
Speaking at an interaction organised by the seven constituent parties of the coalition government in Hotel Yak and Yeti on Tuesday, the Maoist chairman said he held discussions with the president and leaders of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML in order to forge a national consensus. He stressed on the need to move ahead through consensus as it is the only alternative to end the present political crisis.
He maintained that his party was ready to discuss the issues of election, revival of CA or any other option if consensus was forged on the same.
Maoist Chairman Dahal, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum- Loktantrik Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, among other leaders, were are present in the interaction.
The interaction was organised in a bid to create an environment to hold the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections and remove the false impression about the ruling coalition, Finance Minister Barsa Man Pun said. Representatives of civil society, private sector and media were also present at the interaction which was broadcasted live via Nepal Television.
