Indigenous people hands over reminder letter to prez
KATHMANDU, JUN 01 - Indigenous people on Friday submitted a reminder letter to President Ram Baran Yadav underling the need to fill the current political void following the disbandment of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
Member of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities ( NEFIN ), an umbrella of indigenous people, went to the president’s office in Shetal Niwas to submit the letter.
“We have drawn the president’s attention towards the need to fill the current political void,” said NEFIN General Secretary Ang Kaji Sherpa. “Reactionary forces are likely to take advantage of the situation to weaken the national unity and nationality.”
The letter has stated that the Nepali people have been left stunned after the CA was dissolved due to differences between the parties represented in the CA for drafting the new constitution.
“The nation would head towards anarchy if the political void, fluidity and confusion that have cropped up in the aftermath of the CA’s dissolution were not addressed through all-side political talks,” read the statement signed by NEFIN Chairman Rajkumar Lekhi.
The NEFIN has reminded the president, prime minister towards the possible meddling by national and international reactionary forces, and those who are against republic, federalism and secularism in order to weaken the national unity and national integrity.
