Khadka takes lead on Day I

KATHMANDU, MAY 15 -

Rabi Khadka began the Ghanashyam Open Golf tournament, taking a one-stroke lead at the par-72 Tribhuvan Army Officers Golf Club on Monday.

He shot three-under 69, carding an even-par 36 on the front nine and three-under 33 on the back nine to stay ahead of Surya Prasad Sharma and Nepal No 1 Shiva Ram Shrestha. Sharma and Shiva Ram are tied in second place at two-under 70.

Deepak Thapa Magar is fourth at one-under 71, while Jaya Ram Shrestha and Umesh Nagarkoti share the fifth position at even-par 72. With the score of two-over 74, Ram Thapa is seventh while Sanjay Lama, Toran Bikram Shahi and Deepak Acharya are tied at eighth at three-over 75. Dharan pro Mani Rai is 11th at 76 and defending champion Ramesh Adhikari shared the 12th position with Deepak Neupane at five-over 77. Four pros, Dhruba KC, Ramesh Nagarkoti, Rajan Thapa and Bishnu Neupane are tied for 14th position at six-over 78.

In Amateur section, Tashi Tsering is atop the standing with two-over 74, while Tashi Ghale and Tirtha Poudel are tied second at 76. Neeraj SJB Rana is fourth at 78, whereas Dinesh Prajapati and Ashish Pariyar shared the fifth spot with the score of seven-over 79.
