NC’s direction to cadres
KAVRE, MAR 19 -
Nepali Congress leaders have directed the party activists to retaliate against the UCPN (Maoist) excesses.
Stating that people are still fearful to stand against the Maoist atrocities despite their rampant exploitation of the state coffers, the NC senior leaders blamed that the Maoist leadership is behind the ‘rate race’ rather than peace and constitution in the country.
“The Maoists engage themselves in amassing riches by giving up their work of writing the constitution and concluding peace process. We brought them from jungle hoping that they would mend their ways but they are still the same,” said NC General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, while addressing a mass meeting at Bhakundebeshi on Sunday. He said that the NC creates such an environment in the country that people will not have to fear the Maoist atrocities.
Another NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi blamed the Maoists for stymieing the peace and statute-drafting processes. He said that ‘the grand old party’ has its clear stance on nationality, democracy, federalism, inclusiveness and secularism.
Meanwhile, a Maoist district committee member among hundreds of people defected to the NC at the function. The NC leaders welcomed the new entrants and provided the party membership.
