NC cadres obstruct highway in Itahari

ITAHARI, FEB 07 - Cadres of the Nepali Congress (NC) continued their demonstration in Itahari, Sunsari for the second straight day on Monday.
The agitating NC cadre s obstructed the East-West highway and the Koshi highway as part of their protest, demanding action against UML-aligned Youth Force cadre Rupensh Bajgain for beating up Itahari Municipality Chairman of NC, Hemkarna Poudel.
Bajgain had allegedly manhandle d Poudel on Saturday.
NC Itaharai Municipality Committee said it was forced to resort to the strike after police failed to keep up to its assurance that the guilty would be arrested within the next 24 hours.
NC cadre s have obstructed both the highways, by staging demonstration at Chaurasta. A huge number of security personnel have been deployed in the area. The vehicular movement has been obstructed due to the strike.
