KATHMANDU, JAN 26 - Santosh Chhetri , a journalist with The Kathmandu Post, was honoured by Vice President Paramananda Jha on Wednesday for attaining an academic distinction.

Vice President Jha decorated Chhetri along with three other students for scoring distinction in MA (Mass Communication) from Purbanchal University in 2009 from College of Journalism and Mass Communication by handing over appreciation letters amid a function in Lalitpur on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the college.

The other honoured students are Bal Krishna Parajuli, Aarati Chataut and Deepak Jung Hamal.

Similarly, Jha also honoured TKP’s Photo Editor Bikash Rauniyar, RSS Editor Shree Ram Singh Basnet, Senior Producer of NTV Tanka Upreti, Radio Nepal’s Director Tapanath Shukla, and some others for teaching in the college since long time.

Addressing the function, the vice president said that journalists without responsibility are “like flowers without nectar”. Journalists have a great role to show the right direction to leaders in this transition period, he said.

Similarly, President of Federation of Nepali Journalist Dharmendra Jha said that the future of many journalists is at risk because of lack of security and financial guarantee.
