Journo warned
KATHMANDU , Feb 09 - The editor of Rastriya Janamanch Weekly newspaper was threatened by a man who claimed to be the chief of Unity Life Assurance International Limited on Saturday.
Makhan Dhoj Gurung aka Tiger threatened Prahlad Rijal, the editor, to reveal the names of the sources used for a news report against the company.
According to the press release issued by the Kathmandu branch of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) on Monday, Gurung said that “he would chop down the legs of those who disseminated the information to the press.”
Gurung also allegedly threatened the editor not to publish any news against the company in the future.
FNJ has condemned the incident and has asked the government to investigate and bring out the facts.
However, Bishnu Chhetri, managing director of the company, said
no such person existed in the company.
