Prez Yadav announces end of House session

KATHMANDU, Feb 08 - President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has announced the end of the sixth session of Legislative-Parliament under the recommendation of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Monday.

This session of Legislative Parliament, also known as the budget session, had started on July 8 and had passed the annual budget for fiscal year 2066/2067 (2009/2010). The session had run for 216 days.

Besides endorsing the annual budget, the House session also amended the Interim Constitution for seventh time to reactivate the post of Vice President Paramananda Jha. The session also passed seven out of 19 bills tabled by the government.

Speaker Subash Chandra Nemwang prorogued the session reading out a letter from the President's Office.

The Interim Constitution stipulates that the president, on the recommendation of the prime minister, announces the end of the House session.

The budget session that started on July 8 was obstructed for nearly six months over the Army chief's reinstatement row.
