NHRC cautions govt over weakening security

Kathmandu, Feb 08 - NHRC NepalNational Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has cautioned the government toward what it called “the worsening security situation” in the Capital and outside.

In a statement on Monday, NHRC said recent reports of its regular monitoring of incidents of abduction and murder in Kathmandu and across the country indicated that people's right to live in peace and security has been gradually eroding. “We urge the government to improve the security situation in the country and guarantee the people's  right to live peacefully,” reads the NHRC statement. 

NHRC has also condemned the vandalism of a vehicle belonging to its Mid-Regional Office in Nepalgunj by some unidentified men. The rights body has urged the government to immediately bring the culprits of all the incidents of human rights violations to book and enforce law and order.
