It’s raining gold for Nepal at SAG: five gold today itself; seven overall

In what is turning out to be a happy hunting day for Nepal in the 11th South Asian Games (SAG) being played in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Nepal claimed five gold medals on Monday itself, stretching the overall gold tally to seven.
Nepal’s Angbabu Lama claimed gold in Wushu earlier today to start the proceedings, while Taekwondo ace Deepak Bista made it four golds for Nepal, creating history by winning fourth consecutive gold at the South Asian Games. He had claimed his first gold at the 8th SAG held in Kathmandu.
He defeated Bhutani player in the final today in the under 87kg category of Taekwondo. Ayusha Shakya then made it fifth gold for Nepal, claiming gold in Taekwondo.
Meanwhile, Bindo Shakya and Ganga Adhikari claimed gold medals for Nepal in Karate. Adhikari claimed gold in women under 61kg category.
However, Taekwondo player Manita Shahi could not follow the footsteps of the fellow players who bagged gold today and was forced to be content with silver medal after she lost in the finals.
Nepal had broken the shackles yesterday winning two gold medals. Binita Maharjan had become the first Nepali player to bag gold medal at the 11th SAG. She claimed gold in Wushu yesterday.
Likewise, Sunil Lama had bagged second gold for Nepal. He defeated Indian player in the final of Kumute under 55kg, Karate.
