Nov. 20 deadline ends: Maoists say chances of solution feeble

The Unified CPN (Maoist) on Friday concluded that the chances of defusing the political deadlock through talks have become feeble.

A meeting of the Maoist standing committee held at the party headquarters in Koteshwor today concluded that since the political parties stuck to their old stances over the demands of civilian supremacy and correction of President's move, and the effort to defuse deadlock through talks is not materialising.

Meanwhile, Maoist Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma said the party’s politburo meeting scheduled for tomorrow will finalise the model of third-phase of agitation. The model will then be submitted to the Central Committee meeting later tomorrow.

The Maoist ultimatum to the government to meet their demands is expiring today.

On the last day of their second phase of protests, the Maoists had issued a seven-day ultimatum, and said if their demands are not met by Nov. 20, they would take to fresh stir against the government.
