Morang VDCs' computers at secys' home

Morang, Nov 20 - Official computers are supposed to be at the place of work. But the computing devices belonging to VDC offices in Morang district have been kept at secretaries' home.

Due to lack of security and skilled workforce, computers of 25 VDCs are lying unattended at the secretaries' houses.

The District Development Committee (DDC), Morang, had purchased the computers for effective management of accounting system of Bahuni, Katahari, Tankisinwari, Darbesha, Sundarpur, Dulari, Barangi, Singhdevi,, Lakhantari, Tadi, Motipur, Badahara, Rangeli and other 12 VDC offices.

We have no skilled human resources to handle the computers and there is no working environment at VDC offices, said Kedar Giri, secretary of Katari VDC.

Although the DDC had equipped most of the secretaries with basic computer training, its effort to teach them the must-to-know skills of handling computers did not yield any result.

"Most of the VDC secretaries only know how to open and close computers which is too little to work on the computing devices," said another VDC secretary of Sidha Thir Prasad Poudel.
