PM, Prachanda strike same chord on 'middlepath'
Kathmandu, Nov 20 - Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ have reached an agreement on Friday to end ongoing political deadlock through “middle path’.
During the meeting held at Prime Minister Nepal’s residence in Koteshwor today, the duo agreed to find a common way out so as to avoid the confrontation situation. However, the leaders did not clarify the meaning of “middle path”.
The discussion chiefly revolved around resolving the current political crisis, PM’s advisor Bishnu Rijal said. According to Rijal, Prime Minister urged Prachanda to end the deadlock at the earliest, as it would bring the entire nation to a standstill because of budget crisis. PM noted that both the ruling and opposition parties should be aware about the likely situation as the parliamentary obstruction has affected the fiscal budget approval.
When asked about the definition of “middle path”, Rijal said it is, in PM’s own term, a win-win situation in which both the sides would be benefited. “To put it exactly, the leaders discussed the way to settle the contentious issues as the Maoists are also seeking a safe landing of their agitation.”
Emerging from the meeting with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, PM Nepal said that a middle path would be sought to settle the row over President's move.
Prime Minister Nepal said the contentious issues would be sorted out through dialogues after the arrival of Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala from Singapore.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister informed the Maoist chair about the issues that has cropped up because of the delay in annual budget approval.
Meanwhile, Dahal reiterated that all the issues would be resolved in ‘a package’ and added that the Maoists would take decision on whether to resort to agitation or consensus within Saturday.
