Parbat folks living amid leopard terror
Local residents in Karkineta of Parbat district have been living under the shadow of leopard terror for the past one week.
Panic has spread here after a big cat on Tuesday had claimed the life of five-year-old son of Shiva Poudel, Sujan Poudel. Cattle falling prey to leopards almost on daily basis has also added fuel to the fire.
The big cats have restricted people's movement, as they have left going to jungles and started staying awoke all nights. They also fear to go to paddy fields. Some of them even avoid walking alone back and forth between their village and other neighbouring villages.
The big cats, they said, live in a dense forest straddling Syangja and Parbat border. It is learnt that a tiger attacked and injured an elder at Bicharichautari in Syangja on Wednesday evening.
Security officials have also woken up to leopard terror, beefing up security in the villages.
Meanwhile, the local authority has urged locals to maintain restraint and to keep children indoor.
